RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Friday that the team had agreed to terms with 2017 first-round pick Martin Necas on a three-year, entry-level contract (ELC).

The deal will pay Necas $832,500 at the National Hockey League (NHL) level or $70,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level per season, and included a signing bonus of $277,500.

One of two first-round selections in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft hailing from the Czech Republic, the 18-year-old Necas (6’1”, 178 lbs.) spent the 2016-17 season with HC Kometa Brno of the Czech Extraliga, his home country’s top professional league.

He scored seven goals and earned eight assists (15 points) in 41 regular-season games, ranked third on the team with three power-play goals, and scored four goals in 10 playoff games as Brno won the league championship.
